Morgan 3 Wheeler

UPD: Get new version (0.9.8) here.

Author: physic & sound by Dmitrii A., model by Maarten H. & x4fab

Sadly, model is very low-detailed (it even didn’t have steering arms!), but I’ve tried to make it better. But physics is very good, try it!

I’ve made a lot of special skins while testing new AcTools Showroom.

AI is totally insane, if you could find a way to fix them, I’d be really thankful. 🙂

By the way, from now on we’re going to release mods only with packed data (it’s much better for online). But you still can change everything — just remove data.acd and use data from our public repository instead. Sorry for the inconvenience, but AC can’t calculate checksum of unpacked data (like it’s so complicated).

Features:

  • Animated suspension
  • Baked shadows, dirt, damages, etc
  • Number plates
  • Original sound
  • Skins: Kunos-style previews
  • Wobbling exhaust pipe

If you want to add your own skin (I have to warn you, UV is mirrored and pretty bad), here is template.

And, if anybody interested, full source (including max- and psd-files).

  1. Is there a way to make the sounds a little louder? I mean, when you downshift (or just let it cruise), you can barely hear the engine… is the real Morgan so silent?

  2. I think the physics might just be slightly wrong in regards to the suspension. On very early Morgan 3-wheelers from decades ago, they would pick up an inside wheel through a turn, but on the new models from the past couple years (like this mod is based off) I have read that they’ve engineered that trait out, so that it keeps both wheels on the ground through a corner for the most part. This mod often picks up the inside wheel though which would be inaccurate I think.

    Just my 2 cents.

  3. Hello, I’m new here and this is my first comment…
Thank you for this great site I’ve just discovered…

    About this Morgan…
You said: “Sadly, model is very low-detailed (it even didn’t have steering arms!), but I’ve tried to make it better. But physics is very good, try it!”

So, I’ve tried it and… it have steering arms; and they’re animated… I am happy, then.
But physics are not so good. I can’t compare to the real car but I’ve immediatly felt “car.ini\STEER_ASSIST < 1" which is a bad way to add some kind of "grip" to the ffb.
Unfortunatly, most car mods are done this way. It gives the illusion of something not really badly done.
But STEER_ASSIST SHOULD be equal to 1 (or very near) and the modder should spend more time on the suspensions instead of using this trick.

    1. Thanks, it wasn’t so important before (Kunos values), but they recently fixed them all, so it looks like now it does matter. I told about this issue Dmitry, he’ll try to fix both Morgan and Peugeot. 🙂

      1. Sorry to have been a bit rude… Coffee, tiredness…
I’ve quickly look at the data; raising STEER_ASSIST to 1.0 and FFMULT to 3.7 (car.ini) already give something better. But there’s still a kind of deadzone in the center…
I’ve noticed Dmitry use some short ROD_LENGTH and PACKER_RANGE (maybe by design) but I should admit not being a reference in suspensions…
Here is a setup.ini you could use to test different values of many aspects of the suspensions (and more). I’ve adapted it to match the current Morgan’s settings:

  4. Sorry for being out of subjet but…

Recently, I get a VW Beetle from: http://assetto-db.com/car/vw_beetle
The source is unknown and I guess it’s a rip.

Well, the car is better done that the one you can find on assetto.net but none of theses cars really satisfied me.

So, I’ve put my hands on the physics (I do not pretend to be an expert but the feeling is really good) , upgrade what I could and done 3 original skins.

You can find it here: http://uptobox.com/8k0tgxxgq8vw
Since it is not powered by the original Beetle motor I suggest you to take a look at the preview pane first…

    Enjoy 😉

    1. Thanks, it’s surely interesting to drive. Although, the suspension is quite similar to suspension of Lotus Elise SC, isn’t it? 🙂

UPD: Here are Kunos-styled previews if you want.

      1. Don’t know about the suspensions of Lotus Elise…
But tires are simillar, yes 🙂

About previews, hum… I prefer not to use Kunos-styled…
Last week, I’ve post on RD all the previews I’ve made; thanks to your ACToolsCarManager 😉
